Time-Saving Tech for Busy Mums
+ an audio reset
The inspiration for this weeks Hub check in, came as I was sat doing homework with my middle daughter. We had taken ourselves into a separate room from the rest of the household, after struggling to get it done in the main living room. There was too much going on in there. One child was asking me to cut things out of her magazine and the other was making his own game and wanted us all to play. Crumbs on the floor were shouting at me to get the hoover out and the washing machine was beeping, having just finished its load. It was all too much.
My daughter was getting cross with her homework because there was simply too much other stuff going on around us. You know those moments of complete chaos where you just want to cover your ears and go “ahhhhh”?
So we moved into a different room and closed the door on everything else. The silence was welcomed. We looked out the window at the sun shining and the cows moving lazily in their field, before carrying on with the homework.
The moment of calm contrasted greatly from what was happening on the other side of the door, and both my daughter and I needed to control our nervous systems to get the task at hand done. It worked. The homework was completed in less than five minutes. She could then go off and play, while I tackled the crumbs on the floor. Woohoo 😜
At the bottom of this weeks post, you will find an invitation to listen to an audio I took in our garden, of the bird song. I would love for you to spend five minutes listening to the audio, when needed. Think of it as pushing that re-set button.
So while this is lovely to share, I also wanted to give you some practical tools, to help make busy mum life go a little smoother.
Do you use time-saving tech?
I think I put off using tech-tools for as long as possible. I can be quite stubborn in that I want to do things myself. For some bizarre reason I thought using tech was cheating? How silly is that?
But as soon as I started using a few tech-tools, certain aspects of life did (shockingly) become slightly more streamlined. I must add, I don’t use all of the below, just a few. But everyone is different, so I wanted to give you a few options to play around with… see what you think.
Time-saving Tech Ideas
Join me on the other side of chaos, as I share simple, powerful tech tools that can take everyday craziness... and turn it into calm, organised flow.
Mornings Simplified
Mornings are probably the most hectic, right?
Use your smart speaker help you get everyone organised (plus I think the kids will find this quite fun.)
Set up a “Good Morning” routine with Alexa or Google Assistant to:
Read out the weather and calendar
Remind the kids to brush their teeth and grab their lunchboxes
I think you can also add your shopping list to this, which is handy.
Just say, "Good morning," and boom—your household is in motion.
